ONTOS Publishing is an independent German publishing house devoted to a scientific style of philosophy in the tradition of Aristotle, the scholastics and recent analytical philosophy. Its main fields of interest are mathematical and philosophical logic, ontology and metaphysics, epistemology and philosophy of science, history of philosophy – coupled with systematic enquiries, Austrian philosophy and phenomenology, process philosophy, as well as practical philosophy such as action theory and meta-ethics. Its book series now number 24, all edited by excellent and renowned scholars in their respective areas of research. In addition, its program includes books published independently of the individual series. The languages of publication are German and English, with one book series is in French. Distribution and marketing of all English-language titles is handled in Great Britain, Ireland, and many countries of Northern, Southern and Eastern Europe by its distributor in Lancaster (UK). Its market in North and South America is covered by its distributor Aldine-Transaction Books, the leading US publisher in social sciences at the Rutgers University in New Jersey. Its distributor in Paris delivers its books in France and Belgium.

Rafael Hüntelmann (Dr. phil.) is the founder, owner, and director of ONTOS. He studied philosophy, pedagogy and theology at the universities of Munich, Wurzburg and Cologne. He wrote his dissertation in the field of analytic ontology at the University of Cologne. Before he founded ONTOS in 2003, he was temporary lecturer in philosophy at Munich University of Applied Sciences and at a small private university in Baden-Württemberg as well as research associate at a private institute in Cologne. He is also founder and editor-in-chief of the Journal “METAPHYSICA. International Journal for Ontology & Metaphysics”, now published with Springer SBM, Dordrecht.
